Description

Enabling People, Empowering Communities, Enhancing Places

Sandwell’s story is one of potential and striving to realise the ambitions of our borough, our residents and communities. We have been through a period of significant challenge including government intervention, but through determination and our drive for excellence, we look to the future with pride and a sense of purpose. While we have come so far, there is more to do; breaking down silos, embedding our values across the organisation, and ensuring that we continue to transform to deliver the best services for our residents. Created 50 years ago from six proud towns, each unique but united by a shared identity and rich culture, Sandwell is a place built on making things happen. It’s where industry met innovation, and where strong communities continue to shape the future.

Core to our continued evolution, our new Service Director of Transformation and ICT will be central to working across the authority as we strive to become an efficient organisation that consistently delivers for our residents, businesses and visitors. You will eliminate waste, tackling inefficiencies and inconsistencies in our services, ensuring that we adapt as a council to the changing needs of our diverse communities and meet the expectations of our residents. Building a coherent approach to transformation across the organisation, you will embed a culture that places our customers at the core of our operational design. Maximising the benefits that technology offers is critical to this role. Modern and secure digital and ICT services will enable change, enabling our residents and businesses to engage with the authority dynamically. Through your leadership and direction we will ensure that the resources we deploy have the biggest possible impact, changing lives and empowering communities.

With our values at the core of how we work, we are seeking someone with the ambition to lead transformation across the entire organisation. You will need strong project management discipline and the ambition to innovate as well as be brilliant at the basics. We want accountability and transparency in our project outcomes and build evidence of how we consistently achieve what our plans promise. Our transformation journey is evolving our organisational culture and changing behaviours, where everything we do is resident focused. But most important is a leader that embodies our values and has the passion to transform services that benefit our residents.
